Hello!  My name is Wendy Powell and this is my family.  My husband Jamey and my two boys, DJ and Braden.  We opened Ruff'n It Pet Hotel in 2016.  We all have a love for dogs and cats and wanted to be able to meet many different ones!  

 

It all started when we took a trip to Memphis for a weekend.  We booked a hotel that was pet friendly and decided to take our dogs with us at the last minute.   The hotel recommended a pet daycare while we were out exploring the city and I fell in love with the idea!

 

I am a registered nurse and Jamey owns a local tax business.  I kept thinking about this pet daycare thing and dreaming up ideas.  Jamey says well we won't know until we try it so we started designing.  Between the 4 of us we came up with Ruff'n It Pet Hotel.  I would come up with ideas and Jamey made it happen.  I love bright colors so I painted with the brightest colors I could find.  I wanted the pet hotel to be as close to a home setting we could get but still be able to keep it clean and sanitary.  I love the couches for the dogs to lounge on just like at home.  We love and care for all of our guests just like they are our own.  I take pride in keeping everything clean, fresh, and tidy for our guests and their parents.  

 

Soon after opening the pet hotel, I wanted to offer other services such as grooming, so I head back to school and learn how to groom.  Working full time at the hospital, I studied how to groom at night.  After doing the book work, I did 100+ hours of mentorship with another groomer in Paducah  I graduated from Animal Behavior College with a grooming certificate in August of 2018.  I no longer work at the hospital and only do pet hotel stuff!
